Introdans presenteert een nieuwe bewerking van het klassieke operaverhaal Carmen, een dansproductie voor de héle familie. Indrukwekkend, vol temperament en passie; olé!

De Spaanse choreograaf Gustavo Ramírez Sansano vertelt in zijn Carmen.maquia het aangrijpende verhaal over de liefde en de vernietigende kracht van jaloezie. De zachtaardige soldaat Don José valt als een blok voor de vurige Carmen, maar zij wil zich niet binden aan één man.

Het hele tableau van Introdans is te zien in deze klassieker in een nieuw jasje, met verrassende wending. Alles is in zwart-wit; van het Picasso-achtige decor tot de prachtige kostuums. De cadans van de flamenco, paso doble én de emoties geven deze familievoorstelling (6-106 jaar) extra schwung.

Na het grote succes van Carmen in 2022, herneemt Introdans deze avondvullende voorstelling in de wintermaanden van seizoen 25-26.

Gustavo Ramírez Sansano noemt zijn versie van Carmen bewust net iets anders, namelijk Carmen.maquia. ‘Deze titel heb ik afgeleid van tauromaquia, dat Spaans is voor ‘de kunst van het stierenvechten’. Pablo Picasso vergeleek Carmen vaak met een ontembare stier, dus ik verwijderde ‘tauro’ en voegde ‘Carmen’ toe. Carmen de ontembare!’

Carmen Experium - Een interactieve totaalbeleving voor jong en oud
Introdans biedt voorafgaand aan de voorstelling en in de pauze een speciaal Experium aan in onze bovenfoyer. Een interactieve totaalbeleving voor jong en oud, waarbij je al je zintuigen kunt gebruiken om Carmen nóg intenser te ervaren. Voel de kostuums, maak een Insta selfie in (digitaal) kostuum, luister naar de muziek en maak kennis met de personages. Dans je eigen duet op een danstapijt, maak het decor en speel met het lichtontwerp. In de pauze leer je een korte choreo aan en na afloop is er een Meet & Greet met enkele dansers in de benedenfoyer. Neem een kijkje – entree is gratis.

Over de choreograaf
Choreograaf Gustavo Ramírez Sansano (1978, Spanje) begon zijn carrière als danser, onder andere bij het Nederlands Dans Theater, maar is allang een veelgevraagd dansmaker. Zijn stoere en verleidelijke versie van Carmen is sinds de première in 2012 een wereldwijd succes. Over de hele wereld zijn al vele jonge harten veroverd door deze eigentijdse Carmen.maquia.

Introdans presents a new adaptation of the classic opera tale Carmen - a dance production for the whole family. Impressive, full of passion and fiery spirit - olé!

In his Carmen.maquia, Spanish choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano tells the gripping story of love and the destructive force of jealousy. The gentle soldier Don José falls head over heels for the fierce Carmen, but she refuses to be tied down to just one man.

The full Introdans ensemble appears in this reimagined classic, complete with unexpected twists. Everything is in black and white—from the Picasso-inspired set to the stunning costumes. The rhythms of flamenco, paso doble, and raw emotion give this family show (ages 6–106) extra flair.

After the great success of Carmen in 2022, Introdans brings back this full-length production in the winter months of 25–26.

Gustavo Ramírez Sansano deliberately gave his version of Carmen a slightly different name: Carmen.maquia. 'I took inspiration from tauromaquia, the Spanish word for ‘the art of bullfighting.’ Pablo Picasso often compared Carmen to an untamable bull, so I removed ‘tauro’ and added ‘Carmen.’ Carmen the untamable!'

Carmen Experium
Prior to the performance and during the interval, Introdans offers a special Experium in our upper foyer. An interactive total experience for young and old, where you can use all your senses to experience Carmen even more intensely. Feel the costumes, take an Insta selfie in (digital) costume, listen to the music and get to know the characters. Dance your own duet on a dance mat, create the set and play with the lighting design. During the interval, you will learn a short choreography and afterwards there will be a Meet & Greet with some of the dancers in the lower foyer. Come and have a look – admission is free.

About the Choreographer
Choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano (1978, Spain) began his career as a dancer, performing with companies such as Nederlands Dans Theater. He has long since become a highly sought-after choreographer. His bold and seductive version of Carmen has been a worldwide success since its premiere in 2012. All over the world, this contemporary Carmen.maquia has captured the hearts of many young audiences.
