The works of Sondheim (composer and lyricist of, among others, Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods) withdraws from the laws of genres, his musicals are a genre in itself. Introdans - Leve Larbi. [Dance] - 20-04-2019
Flemish-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is one of today's leading contemporary choreographers at the international level. Cherkaoui, artistic director of both the Royal Ballet of Flanders and of his own company Eastman, has already received many awards. The authoritative German magazine Tanz recently proclaimed him 'Choreographer of the Year' for the third time. So Introdans is particularly proud that it can perform several of Cherkaoui's choreographies. In Leve Larbi the company presents three of his works. This programme (just like the family show Tomfoolery) fits the aim of artistic director Roel Voorintholt to focus a programme more frequently on one leading choreographer in the coming years.

Calefax & Eric Vloeimans. [Music] 01-05-2019
Calefax and renowned trumpeter Eric Vloeimans present a swinging new version of Purcell's famous baroque operaDido and Aeneas. Virgil's classical tragedy is given an entirely new spin inDido & Aeneazz, a recomposition of the opera by Raaf Hekkema (saxophonist of Calefax) with a cycle of new songs by Eric Vloeimans. It invites the listener to a musical journey that virtuously flows from the baroque original to jazz, calypso and klezmer, and back. During the concert, beautiful illustrations by artist Hedy Tjin depict and accompany the colorful music. Calefax and Vloeimans are accompanied by Vloeimans' top band Gatecrash: Gulli Gudmundsson (bas) and Jasper van Hulten (drums).
