The Mystery of Pablo Picasso is een Franse documentaire uit 1956 over de Spaanse schilder Pablo Picasso, geregisseerd door Henri-Georges Clouzot. De 80 minuten durende film toont hoe Picasso schildert voor de cameralens.

Picasso praat over zijn werk, spijt, mislukkingen en succes. De film is ook een overdenking over de kunst in relatie tot de film, heeft een grote dramatische intensiteit en luidde het einde in van de traditionele documentaire. Clouzot gebruikt een nieuwe benadering en hoedt zich voor beschrijvingen of interpretaties. Voorbeeldige montage van Henri Colpi. Camerawerk van J. Ripouroux.

Deze vertoningen zijn een samenwerking tussen Amsterdam Spanish Film Festival, Cobra Museum en Cinema Amstelveen.

In het kader van de tentoonstelling De Andere Picasso. Terug naar de Bron t/m 8 oktober te zien in het Cobra Museum vertoont Cinema Amstelveen twee maal de documentaire The Mystery of Pablo Picasso (1956).

The Mystery of Pablo Picasso is a 1956 French documentary film about the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. The 80-minute film shows Picasso painting in front of the camera lens. Picasso talks about his work, regrets, failures and success. The film is also a reflection on the art in relation to the film, has a great dramatic intensity and heralded the end of the traditional documentary.
